Annual 5K Co-ed Run/1 Mile Family Walk
Saturday, October 25, 2008 – 8:30 a.m.

RACE INFORMATION:

MESSAGE FROM THE 2008 RACE CHAIR: Billie White
Race Co-Chair: Ashley Smith

It is your support and participation that helps us to continue to fund promising new research and provide education, screening, and treatment to those who need it most. Up to 75% of the net proceeds stay in the Memphis-MidSouth Affiliate area to support local education, screening, and treatment programs. A minimum of 25% of net funds raised support the National Komen Award and Research Grant Program.

With your support last year we had over 14,600 participants, 258 teams and raised a record $936,000.00 of which $865,000.00 was put right back into our community (Shelby, Fayette, Tipton & Desoto Counties).   In addition, 25% of our proceeds were pooled with national research dollars aimed at finding THE CURE!  We have started on our online registration earlier this year in hopes to increase the amount of participants registered and the funds raised by all participants and teams. We are also excited to have our three local presenting sponsors back again this year, Kroger, International Paper and Sam’s Town Tunica. There is a strong ongoing demand for more dollars needed to be raised to help those in need.

There will be many events at this years Race including:  the Survivor Breakfast, The Bouffants, Team and Individual Fundraising Awards after the Race, a Family Fun Area with children's activities, a Survivor Tribute, "I Am The Cure®" a Komen educational component of the Race, and the Baptist Hospital Yard Decorating Contest along the Race route.
