About Us

Purpose: Memphis Woman provides Memphis and surrounding area women educational and inspiring articles for and about women and their success. Our purpose is to support, promote and educate Mid-South women, which we have been doing since March of 1993. May 2007 will be our 14th Anniversary issue.

Circulation / Distribution: 20,000 copies of Memphis Woman are distributed monthly throughout East Memphis, Midtown and Downtown Memphis, Cordova, Germantown, Collierville, Bartlett, and Desoto County in locations such as grocery stores, libraries, bookstores, restaurants, medical offices, boutiques and salons. Approx. 5,000 copies are mailed to women and businesses by direct mail and paid subscription. About 5,000 extra copies will be distributed at the Southern Women Show in March/April and the Memphis Area Race for the Cure in October. 5,000 extra copies will be printed each July when we feature “50 Women Who Make a Difference.” All contract advertisers are listed at www.MemphisWomanOnline.com with web links. Podcasts are in the works and will be available for year-long advertisers.

Readers: Memphis Woman targets women of all ages in the Memphis area.  Our readers are highly educated, mostly between 25 and 54, homeowners, mostly married and have average household income of over $85,000. Our new “Circle of Love” section of the magazine will have articles for every point of a woman’s life making it the perfect media to reach women of all ages.

Community Involvement: Memphis Woman has supported and sponsored several events over the years such as Komen Memphis Race for the Cure (for 14 years!), Alzheimer’s Association’s Memory Walk, American Cancer Society’s Tell A Friend program, East Memphis BPW Business Conference & Expo, American Heart Association’s Women’s Heart Conference (for 8 years!) and Go Red for Women campaign (2 years), Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Man & Woman of the Year (4 years), Theatre Memphis, Playhouse on the Square, Maternal League’s Mother of the Year (4 years), the YWCA Annual Benefit Luncheon, the Amazing You! Women’s Conference, and the Tenn. Economic Summit for Women in Nashville, Madonna Circle’s Memphis Antiques, Garden & Gourmet Show, Brooks Museum League Art & Design Fair, MS Society and more.

Mechanical Requirements

Ad Forms: No film or “camera-ready” art accepted. All ads must be electronic  - Acrobat PDF, Quark, InDesign, Photoshop or Illustrator (Mac or Windows). No Microsoft Publisher accepted. Must be delivered on CD or E-mailed to David@MemphisWoman.biz. Both printer and screen fonts and images must be supplied. Hard-copy proof (printed or faxed) must be supplied to verify art. All ads must have a border except full pages with bleed. Bleed ads should extend at least 1/4 inch beyond the edge on all four sides. Color images must be specified as CMYK, not RGB. Pantone color values must be set to separate to CMYK values. Resolution should be 300 DPI.

Production Charges: Ad cost does not include in-house production fees. Fees start at $25.  A minimum of $10 will be charged to make changes to previous ads, $10 fee for each photo scan.

Requested Position: Published rate plus 10% guaranteed only with this premium and subject to availability.

Payment Terms: All ads must be paid in advance unless credit is approved. To establish credit, new advertisers must pay in advance for the first four insertions. Payment is due upon receipt of invoice. Interest charges are added to accounts past due.

Ad Agencies: A 15% discount is offered to recognized ad agencies providing electronic art.  Invoices must be paid within 45 days to receive discount.

Policies: Frequency discounts are only offered to advertising inserted within one year of first insertion. Cancellations will be short rated. No cancellations after closing date. Most recent run ad will be inserted if new art is not received by deadline.  Please confirm a specific deadline date. Advertiser is liable for contracted space not used. Advertiser is liable for cost of ad space if artwork is not received by art deadline. All advertising content and appearance is subject to approval.  Memphis Woman is not responsible for errors following proof approval. 
Special Publications & Events

Memphis Women’s Yellow Pages: Metro Marketing also publishes the Memphis Women’s Yellow Pages, a Guide to Women in Business, Women’s Organizations and Women’s Health Resources. 35,000 copies of the 2006/2007 edition will be available in June, 2006 in the same locations you find Memphis Woman magazine. Our web site, www.memphisWYP.com is updated regularly. Yearly contract advertisers are automatically included in this publication and on the web site. Exclusive sponsorships and “Cover Girl” positions are available.

“Go Red for Women” Special Publication: Through an agreement with the American Heart Association, Memphis Woman Magazine is the exclusive print media for the Go Red for Women campaign. We publish a 16-page special section as part of the February issue of Memphis Woman, which is also printed as a separate piece for other sponsors and the association to use throughout the year.

Special Events: Memphis Woman magazine recognizes Outstanding Young Women of Memphis in the April issue. Nominations are accepted from November through December.  50 Women Who Make a Difference are featured in the July/August issue with a recognition dinner in late August. Nominations are accepted from January through March. Exclusive sponsorships are available for these issues/events.
